Bob Uecker
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers have announced a Celebration of Life for longtime radio voice Bob Uecker.
The team will hold a special ceremony on Sunday, August 24th, before their game with the Francisco Giants. A special pre-game ceremony will feature special guests, including Uecker’s former broadcast partner Bob Costas, rare video content, and other guests.
All ticketed fans will receive a commemorative pin. The team will also donate proceeds from the 50/50 raffle to three charities Uecker supported: Wounded Warrior Project, the ALS Association, and Medical College of Wisconsin Bob Uecker Chair for Cancer Research.
The game will also feature in-game tributes to Uecker. Additional details will be announced before the game.
Uecker died in mid-January after a private battle with cancer. He remained the Voice of the Brewers up until his death, though he scaled back his workload in recent years. First, he limited himself to calling home games and select road contests, then worked select home games in the last two years.
The game will also feature the return of former Brewers infielder Willy Adames, who signed with the Giants in the offseason.
